The drumming is so good this song has an early Who sound. I've always liked the Turtles, I think the were underrated.

A fantastic song! Should've been a much bigger hit, but it was pretty much overlooked during a very competitive time. Their penultimate hit, I believe, just before "Lady-O"

Great underrated Turtles song. It was the second single off the album but only reached #92 on Billboard. Ray Davies produced Turtle Soup, his only non-Kinks production and it bears his exquisite style.

There is an interesting b/w version from the Leslie Uggums show in 1969 with Howard singing karaoke style while the rest of the band goofs around.

I stand corrected

The drummer is not Barbata but John Seiter. Johnny Barbata had left the band some time earlier.

Isn't he great? The drums in this song are fantastic, those triplets and all those fills. He is the great John Barbata, not a household name, but certainly not under-rated by anyone who knows. Good call my friend.

FebruaryStone. Great song. By the way, do you happen to have the b-side "Bachelor mother" and can upload it too? Thanks.

This was produced by Ray Davies of The Kinks (and you sure can hear the influence)
