Both versions have merit. I couldn't choose one if I was paid to!

I'm as big a TR fan as there'll ever be BUT I do prefer the upbeat version, the Tubes one. Love Bomb is a master piece and should have been up thetre in the charts with M.Jackson or Hall&Oates.

Todd's version is on his 1989 album "Nearly Human",his last great album IMO. Prairie Prince and the late Vince Welnick were both among the musicans on the album.

I only see a live version of Todd singing this on YouTube, it's quite good, just slower. I'd heard this version first, with Bill Spooner singing. Years ago I did an online interview with Bill....Google " bill spooner whyte punk's interview " and you will see two interviews that I think were pretty interesting. Also another interview will pop up where he talks about Todd producing on Love Bomb I believe.

where can I hear "Todd's version"? And help me out here, this isn't Fee Waybill singing? I bought this back in the day, and wore it out. When this LP didn't hit the top, I took it as my signal to quit the music biz, as I might be out of touch. But please, clarify the first questions. Signed, a true fan. Thank you!!

I think it matters what a person listen to first or more often. I bought this Tubes LP in 1985, listened to it everyday for a few months probably, LOL, and it was at a time where I had a lot of positive changes in life. So I love it. Todd's version starts out great, love the bass, some horns thrown in, it has a nice texture. Don't like his vocals on this as much as Spooner's though. I'm actually thinking as Todd is singing, "c'mon, let's cut to the chase" !!!! 80's chase scene if need be! : )

I agree, this vs. is too fast.....Great song either way, Todd's vs. actually gives me chills where as this one kinda went along with the 80's feel of things like a chase scene in a bad 80's movie, whereas Todds version is more of a soul / R&B feel.

I prefer Todd's version to this version..........much more feel for a song called " feel it"

I don't think so, Todd's version blows this away IMHO, much better groove and emotion. This is way too fast also.

The 2nd time bill sings " All of my soul ", it sounds like he's crying, sign of a great vocalist, i sometimes prefered his voice to fee, even though he was a great singer also, bill just seemed to have that little bit more soul.

As Todd produced Love Bomb, surely this is also "his take" A superb album, "piece by piece" and "come as you are" are classic Rundgren.

Way better than the Todd's take.
