Old Guys Still Rock

It's great to see so many other people think this track is great, I thought it was just me! I think the comment by "The Bronsons" is spot on. Reg had a knack of writing simple riffs and great melodies. His lyrics are very underrated. He never gets enough credit for his vast catalogue of great songs. Looking back I wish I had written down the things he and I talked about when I spent time chatting with him in 1978 at his home in Andover and also as we recorded "Just A Little Too Much" at Olympic Studios. We spent a lot of time talking about how and where he wrote his early songs.

The Bronsons

Been listening to this and admiring how The Troggs turn a simple riff song into something unsettling and interesting, mainly by throwing a few extra beats into the verses. Clever Mr Presley.

Unlike other groups seems they never grew their hair any longer than it was in 1966.

I was ten when this came out and too young to do a thing but hear this stuff around me. This is a highly evocative song, paints a picture. There were things in the air all right then, not necessarily good ones, but such is thathatha. Greetings from the Continent via the USA. Uprated, thank you.

A happy birthday to...Reg Presley (1941-2013) : singer, The Troggs, (1966 US No.1 & UK No.2 single 'Wild Thing'). Wrote ‘Love Is All Around’, covered by Wet Wet Wet in 1994, which stayed at No.1 in the UK Singles Chart for fifteen weeks. In 1990 Presley began to develop an interest in the paranormal, in particular crop circles. He used the royalties ‘Love Is All Around’ to fund his research into the area and outlined his findings in a book, Wild Things They Don't Tell Us, which was published in 2002. Presley died on 4th Feb 2013. A tribute to Reg :The Troggs - Night Of The Long Grass (1967)

It seems that Reg Presley died about the same time I was discovering his music beyond "Wild Thing" and "Love Is All Around." Love both of them, of course, but he wrote and performed so much more. Rest in peace, Reg Presley; this world is a better place for your having been in it.

Reg Presley wrote this psychedelic song without the help drugs. 'I had a strong pot of tea' was as far as he'd go.
