The Tremeloes version of an early Gilbert composition . They shared the same record label ( CBS ) for a short while in the late sixties . They also recorded two other Gilbert compositions - ` You ` and `Come on home ` around the same time . We now have ` You ` and `What can I do` here on youtube but we have yet to find ` Come on home ` - so if any of you Tremeloes fans out there could upload it for us we Gilbert fans would be very grateful !!!

Highly reminiscent of the Idle Race's 'Skeleton & The Roundabout', which may have something to do with Jeff Lynne selling them his Mellotron....fun track.

"It's one of the pop world's little ironies, that, while the onset of the 1970's seemed to hold genuine promise for the Trems, they would sadly never enjoy a comparably high profile again, while their hitherto obscure semi-protégé O'Sullivan would go on to become one of the biggest names in the British pop firmament during the first half of the new decade". (as stated in the CD's leaflet). Have to find a way to get it on YouTube??

H! Mo, I've got Come On Home by The Tremeloes on the compilation CD 'bout their BBC sessions (1996, CMEDD 939, disc 1, no 18). "Early Sept'69 saw the group also perform 'You', and the psychedelic 'What Can I Do' - that had been penned by a young songwriter by the name of Gilbert O'Sullivan (as indeed was 'Come On Home', also included on this release). The Irishman had been hanging around the Trems management but eventually slipped through their clutches to join the Gordon Mills stable..."

Yes Hugh we have to get `Come on home ` on here ! For the benefit of Tremeloes fans reading this - Gilbert never recorded that song himself but a couple of years ago he started to sing it live in concert ! ( there`s a video on youtube of him performing it ) So if anyone can post the Tremeloes version on here we`d love to hear it !
