A spectacular RAW, RAUNCHY, ROCKIN' version of FOX!

Gone are the synthesizers, and most of the harmonies - but what we have instead is a really hard rocking version of Fox - the way Sweet meant it to be !!!

Andy Scott's guitar solo is fantastic.

At nearly 5 mins long, this, the album version of fox - I think, is brilliant.

It should have been the ONLY version, but was re-recorded for RCA as a single (without Chinn and Chapman's knowledge, and they parted company with Sweet soon after).

Unless you have the UK version of the album Desolation Boulevard, it's unlikely you've heard this before.

Which version do you prefer?

My friend (a dedicated sweet fan) told me about this original version sounding shit. Well found this original version video, had an open mind, and thought I'd listened all the way through, but in the end, he was right, this version is rubbish, give me the single version any day. :)

the original this version i like the best the single was rerecorded at deep purples studios kingsway. sweet never toured the uk or played any festivals after 1974.if they had played charlton rock with the who in 1974 in front of 70.000 rock fans it would have kickstarted there uk rock carreer .but beacause of what happend to brian at that time it didnt happen and big mistake they never capitolised on so the real so called rock fans never got to here this great song and those great albums sadly wasnt to be.they always had shit managment.

My understanding is that the re-recorded version, glammed up with synths and glitzier production, was done by the band and represented a step away from the controlling hand of Chinn and Chapman. Yet it was actually MORE commercial. My 2 cents worth is that the hit single version is a bona fide glam classic, it fulfills the potential of this version, which I still like, but it's not really finished.

I love the Desolation Boulevard version and always will....but this is a great listen and is awesome in it's own right! Thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy and Suicide Squad for bringing this great band back to popularity!!!!

I like them both, the original is much heavier - more rocking.

This is the version I grew up with off Desolation Boulevard - never was as keen on the later single. Synthesizers? Pah!

As a 70s rocker, it irked me the way record labels controlled the music then. I've never heard this version. Back then, this version would have appealed to me more than the one that was chosen for us. The U.S. version I have always liked, yet diversity is critical in music! Mr. Spock would agree, I'm sure.
