Every time I see Steve Priest I am reminded of Tim Curry as Frank-n-furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Anyone else, or is it just me?

This must have been the premiere of the new single, maybe just before or as it was released. The Musician's Union made it an obligation to re-record the song and not use the original if the band were performing it on TV- for some reason. Hence it sounds a bit different, and the producer in this case overloaded the Echoplex vocal effect! Shame it wasn't released a few weeks earlier, it may have stopped Jimmy Osmond from getting the Christmas No.1!
