See below Rebel LP 1977, Ralph is lining out the song, harmony by Jack Cook and Keith Whitley.Superb singing by three masters, only Ralph left. Never tire of this superb LP.

this is actually just Ralph Stanley himself, this was recorded not too long ago, it is Ralf singing in three different harmonizing tones.

The brothers have voices that you can only get by living and it cannot be faked. I do agree that it takes the whole group to make it work.

It's called Question and Answer style or Call and Answer. Ralph is doing the calls but a group is answering. The group is more than just Ralph.

Sirring stuff indeed, from Ralph and the Clinch Mountain Boys 1977 Rebel LP Clinch Mountain Gospel. Not the Stanley Bothers, as Carter wasn't present but great music just the same from Whitley, Cooke. Cline and Profitt.

I've listened to and/or heard Bluegrass since I was a baby (born in Eastern Kentucky Appalachian basin). I'm 49 and to this day I still have no words for this song as sung by the Stanley Bros.

*TotD* Virginia natives The Stanley Brothers and their iconic band, The Clinch Mountain Boys, are stalwarts of what we now know as bluegrass, a genre most believe to be authentic to American roots music tradition even though it was a 20th century invention. Carter Stanley has long since passed, but last I checked Ralph is still touring and fronting The Clinch Mountain Boys (I once caught a show at The Birchmere). If The Stanley Brothers are iconic, this song "Amazing Grace" is super-mega iconic. Written by reformed slave trader John Newton (no not my brother, another John Newton), it's a staple of modern religious hymns especially in the Christian protestant denominations that are an off-shoot of the Anglican church, though it's reach is quite far and outside of the Christian faith in general.#andystuneoftheday

Unique! I want to just listen and relish the melodious sound of this amazing version of Amazing Grace but find it so hard not to sit here and join in with a bit of bass input.
