As a proud owner of number 2204/5000 of the RHINO released album, St. Cecilia: The Elektra Recordings, I've decided to share a few of the key songs from the CD with all of you, because they certainly aren't too easy to come by.

"Arthur Comics" was one of two songs that ever actually got put on an album back during the time that The Stalk-Forrest group was working on a record deal with Elektra. Although a full-length album was assembled, it never saw a release. "What Is Quickand?"/"Arthur Comics" were both sent out to radio stations in the early 70's in the form of a scarcely produced single (roughly 300 copies).

The chord changes for "Arthur Comics" were recycled for the instrumental "Buck's Boogie", released on the 1975 live album On Your Feet or on Your Knees.

This song was played on the radio by Zacherlie, a big DJ in NYC at the time. He lived in the same building as my girlfriend's grandmother and it was thanks to her that Zacherlie played it. Unfortunately, the numbnuts at Elektra didn't release it and only pressed the few copies that included this one. The flipside is probably my favorite of the tunes we cut during those sessions. This track was also released in the 1980s in a boxed set called ELEKTROCK, which also featured hard to find (at the time) tracks by MC5, Stooges, Paul Butterfield and a lot of other bands.

I worked at Memorex for years, first in the Consumer Tape dept., then computer tape. the substrate you are referring to is not acetate, but mylar. Basically plastic.

This is a great song, but its sounds as if it was eventually recycled (sans lyrics) into Buck's Boogie. Ironically, I have the SFG demo on reel-2-reel tape, but I can't play it, because the tape is so old that if I try to play it, the oxide falls off into a neat little pile, and I'm left with clear acetate.

It's really cool that you're posting this old stuff ....thanks!!! Buck still sounds the same today and still rips on the axe! I'll be seeing BOC in October 22, 11 in the Poconos of PA...can't wait!!
