Spencer Davis Group - Don't Want You No More

I'm through with you

And your pretty golden hair

Don't want to see you

'round my door anymore

Ain't no use you making it up

I told you gal

And you've come unstuck

You be messin' me up

Don't want you no more

Don't want you no more

Don't want your lovin', honey

Don't want you no more

You come around and you think

That I'm always there

Always was

But you never seemed to care

Ridin' around with them other guys

You don't seem to realize

That I'm all hung up on you

Don't want you no more

Don't want you no more

Don't want your lovin', honey

Don't want you no more

I stayed out at night

But I never seemed to sleep

Asked myself if you're worth

The money to keep

I'm thinking of the good

Times that we had

I never thought a gal

Could be so bad

I can't help thinkin' to myself

Don't want you no more

Don't want you no more

Don't want your lovin' honey

Don't want you no more

Don't want you no more

Don't want you no more

Don't want your lovin' honey

Don't want you no more

There are about 6 studio and live versions by SDG. Phil Sawyer was lead vocalist and played solo guitar on the original single version. On the LP "With their new face on" both lead vocals and solo guitar were overdubbed by Ray Fenwick, an excellent guitar player and decent vocalist. To my opinion the best version features Spencer Davis on vocals and Booker T. Jones on organ.

This was the B-side of the first Spencer Davis Group single AFTER Stevie and Muff Winwood left the group, 'Time Seller'. The brothers were replaced by Phil Sawyer, who played guitar and did the vocal here, and Eddie Hardin on organ and bass pedals. When Sawyer departed the group the vocals were replaced with Hardin's voice for their 'Mr. Second Class' LP. This tune was penned by Spencer, though many more people know it in instrumental format as the opening track of the first Allman Bros. album.
