The Specials - Gangsters (Live) (1979) (HD)

Some classic skankin footage of "The Specials" performing "Gangsters" restored to its full length, live & in their own inimitable and chaotic style that made The Specials... special... :-)

Gawd... How I wish it was still 1979... :-)

Do you have them performing this on "Saturday Night Live" U.S.A from the same year 79, i use to have that performance on VHS tape when MTV started to repeat the old episodes of the show way back in 1990 when SKY was analogue and you had only 16 English channels at the time.

You got that right, Apart from U2 I can't think of a BAND that stayed together without breaking up at some point, even Blondie broke up and found out they had no money left after all those hits but that's a different story for another day lol....

They probably just wanted to use them to add to the sound not replace anyone, after Dexys The Specials are one of my favourite bands so I'm not trying take anything away from them tie just something I heard, just one of the myths of music...

The TKO Horns came about in 83 I think after The Bureau failed to take off and by that time Big Jimmy had left Dexys after a fall out over the Brass and the Fiddle players... Big Jim thought the brass was being pushed out so he just left but he did play on the 85 album Don't Stand Me Down....

It's the truth mate, they wanted to use them but Kevin would not have it, funny thing is they all left by the end of 1980 and the brass section went freelance and called themselves The TKO Horns and worked with Elvis Costello, Howard Jones amongst others. Would not lie to you mate,it was when they were on the 2Tone tour after Dexys took over from Madness....
