Thanks, but the only prob I have with this is that this is the truncated, album version of the music. After the "Maria" chorus dies out in the movie there is a second, brassy version of the processional before the strings come in (it's heard while the nuns are looking on). There's never been a recording of it on CD. Awhile ago there was a dvd version where you could listen to just the instrumental tracks in the movie--does anyone know which dvd it is?

I am only guessing Stephan, but my guess is the purpose of weaving Maria into the movement was to get across the message that the marriage was how the Abbey solved the "problem of Maria". It was one of the first songs sung in the movie, and including it in that scene I guess was meant to draw ones mind back to the first song as though the marriage was the answer to the question posed at the start.

Could somebody tell me the purpose of weaving "Maria" into this movement? I have tried to find resources on this and would like some input. Loved the organ as well but I was disappointed "the movie" took out the nuns Latin choral works. Any knowledge would greatly be welcomed. Thank you for posting this as well!

I heard that it was the organ at the Mondsee,cathedral,organ played,if it was a theatre organ they would have to switch on the diapasin which gives the theatre organ the sound of a cathedral organ.In the tv series,called The Joy of Music,Diane Bish actually plays the organ in the Mondsee cathedral organ.She is a world class organist.Amen.

It was actually recorded in the USA and was a theatre organ with the tremulants switched off.
