I agree with davedrowsy. This progression adds more tension. And, naturally, the Sonics had the balls to change it up. I just saw them at the Fillmore in S.F., and they were killer!

They played the riff differently (I-III-IV instead of I-IV-V), but it's way more badass that way.

Yes! this has to be my favorite version of Louie Louie, there is a lot of good version though.
