It was the Contours that had the hit with this, not the Isley Brothers, Lead singer, Dennis Edwards.

The production on this is PERFECT, Mics Overdriven, total Energy, Raw , it's The SHIT, DC 5 was great, but Tame, compared to this !!

uhhhh they're just copying the Dave Clark Five arrangement y'know. this is really good as Sonics cover songs go, but the DC5 45rpm thing is a nuclear bomb. canNOT be equalled then or ever. "production values" etc (the UK studios) plus whether or not the famed bobby graham is pounding the skins as a second drummer on any dave clark five single. ("what do they allman brothers, the grateful dead, and the dave clark five have in common?" ha but true. two drummers!)

How old you are has no effect on this song.

What makes you think that being 19 is making the fact that you like this song more impressive?

you must mean the dave clark five - not the beatles... and the Isley brothers never covered it either. The Beatles and Isley Bros and Top Notes did "Twist and Shout" which is frequently played together with "Do You Love Me" as a medley. Information NOT MisInformation

@nikkiguns So, yes, The Sonics version is a cover of a cover of a cover... :)

Jett Crash

@nikkiguns It was originally recorded by The Top Notes, and then covered by The Isley Brothers, who made it a minor hit. The Beatles then covered it on their first album, (Please Please Me), and made it an even bigger hit.

I used to play this at football games in band. I have to say I prefer the Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers version better, but I do love the Sonics
