I eat meat, but I love this song. I'm a big Smiths/Morrissey fan, and I half-feel like I'm letting him down, but everyone has choices and opinions. And in my opinon, I don't feel meat is murder.

I am a meat consumer and I don't have the slightiest shame on it. Before you post your hater comments though, please consider some things:1. Plants are living beings as well, if eating meat is murder, then eating salad is also murder. Scientific researches have shown that plants have emotions and they feel that they are killed2. How can you say it's unnatural since the whole nature "kills" animals. A good percentage of animals eat other animals. Is this murder too? If so, then by killing them we prevent them from killing other animals. It's like a death penalty, lol. I know this sounds like a bad joke, but it's reasonable and "meat is murder" sounds like a bad joke to me.3. I know that people can actually survive without consuming meat, but this is not always possible. Meat in some cases is necessary. If you were shipwrecked in an island with no plants and the only thing you could find to eat were fish, would you starve to death or stop considering it murder anymore?4. Why the hell do we have dogteeth for?Sorry for the long post, I love the Smiths anyway

*MEAT IS MURDER - The Smiths*This is NOT a political post... I am an unabashed meat eater. I think Homer said it best, "Meat is murder... tasty, tasty, murder." However, this Smiths classic is still depressing regardless if you're a carnivore or if you're one of those people that thinks that celery doesn't scream just because you can't hear them. They do!... its awful! Anyhoo...There are lots of depressing Smiths tunes however this one ranks pretty high for its lack of cheekiness, quirky word-smithing or juxtaposition in music (The Smiths are known for matching dark lyrics with upbeat music). This title track from their 1985 album is viciously damning and graphic for its time which is why I included the lyrical video. For me, it never made me want to give up meat however it does a great job of letting you walk in someone else's hooves for a while. Plus.... its a GREAT song!
