The Smithereens cover of The Who's Tommy. Random photos were used to create the videos. I've been a die hard fan of the band since a friend asked me to pick something up for him at their concert in Carteret Park in 2011, and missed out on some of the best pure Rock & Roll others were enjoying for many years, but have made up for it going to concerts, where they always put on an amazing long non-stop performance, one hit after the other. Aside from The Beatles, I can't think of any other band or performer where I thoroughly enjoy every single song on their album. No kidding, I have never skipped ahead to hear the next song, but have often went back to hear a song a second or third time. That's very unusual for even the best of bands!! Solid writing and extremely talented individuals who have played together for so many years, they make the difficult seem easy.

I purchased this album at a concert somewhere, and later misplaced it. I wasn't worried because I had my primary albums, The Smithereens originals handy, and wasn't in a big rush to hear this, not thinking it would be anything special for some stupid reason. I found the CD while cleaning up and decided to toss it in the car to give it a listen, and after a week or so, popped it in, and from the opening song, was treated to something that was The Smithereens, but wasn't. I knew how talented they were, but never figured they would be this incredible at covering The Who. Why? No idea...probably just pictured The Beatles or Elvis Costello trying to cover Tommy, and wasn't expecting a whole lot. Boy was I in for a surprise!!

I have some of their solo works, and that's always nice....gives you a little clue as to who may have added what to songs. This album was like everyone just totally cut loose and really held nothing back. You have to listen to it overall, and listen to it part by part....the drums, bass, guitar, vocals.....beautiful acoustic guitar!! And it is still pure Rock!!!

I'm posting the entire album, and PLEASE UNDERSTAND, TO HEAR THIS AT THE HIGHEST QUALITY, WHICH THIS ALBUM WAS RECORDED AT, YOU MUST HAVE THE CD!!! This is just a tease...play this at HD and I hear you get the best youtube sound quality, but still, as amazing as it is, you will NOT get the best sound without the CD!! Do yourself a favor, and I PROMISE you will NOT be disappointed!! Order online, order from wherever you can get it. Pick up a copy at their concert. But get it!!! I've played this CD a couple dozen times and still have not grown the least bit tired of it!! I know I'll be switching to originals, but this album will not get any less play than the great originals.

So for anyone who wasn't a big Tommy fan, or who doesn't care for The Who, or who doesn't see The Smithereens as being a good cover group of The Who in their minds, I say BUY THIS CD!!! YOU Will NOT be Disappointed!!!! You'll have your money's worth 20 times in the first week!!!
