1st song from their 3rd album "Especially for You", released in 1986.

Lyrics:

She told me sunday

Baby it's over

We can't go on this way.

I really love you,

But I love him too.

She said take care, ok.

(Chorus)

Please don't look my way

When you see me on the street.

We will still be

Strangers when we meet.

I never really

Thought that she'd leave her

Whole home and family.

I've got my own life,

You've still got your wife,

She whispered tenderly.

(Chorus)

All throughout this troubled time.

Times I've wish that you were mine,

Spend my nights and days thinking of you.

Sometimes lie awake at night,

Think of you and it's alright,

Spend my nights and days thinking of you.

She told me sunday,

Baby it's over

We can't go on this way.

I really love you

But I love him too.

She said take care, ok

(Chorus) 2x

Al comienzo como todo en la vida, pero seguro que con el paso se convierte en algo guapo.

Amazing album and my favorite Smithereens song. That's their FIRST album, by the way, not their third.

Dedicating this to my ex. Thanks for 21 years of emotional abuse and cheating. We may still live in the same town, but that doesn't mean I have to or want to talk to you. Getting the cojones to finally break up with you was the best thing I ever did for myself. XOXO Adam

What lovely way to allow a relationship to evaporate. "Please don't look my way when you see me on the street, we will still be strangers when we meet."

Hard to say what, exactly, is the best rock song ever, but, this has to be in the running. I love songs that attempt a concept. Cult of Personality, Secret Agent Man, and Should'a Put'a Ring on It are others in the same vein.

Seen them live in '86 and '88 in Wisconsin. This song is one of my all-time favorite songs.

I agree 1000%. All of their albums/songs are pure greatness of course but this entire album just stands above. Incredible, incredible band.

Wow, was this really recorded in '86? Most music from back then sounds incredibly dated now, but this sounds about as fresh and as vital as anything on the rock charts today (moreso, in fact).

I saw them at the University of Louisville Student Center in the 90s sometime. Decent size crowd. Much smaller than they deserved but I was in the front of the stage!! Awesome Live Band.
