To those complaining about the Smithereens "insulting" Seattle, you do realize it's just a song, right? Sometimes you write a song because it seems to work as a song. Ringo didn't really want to live under the sea in an octopus's garden, Mick Jagger really wasn't trying to give sympathy to the devil ,either. Sometimes a song lyric is just a song lyric.

As someone who was forced to waste most of his childhood in America's most overrated city: This was the theme song of my life. By the way- in response to the lyric at :58- it was NEVER fun in Shit-attle to begin with.

Probably. But even if it was "a sarcastic rip" it still comes off as tacky, considering how Cobain was always raving about them. If a Seattle band is continually lauding you, just out of respect you should recuse yourself from writing a song called "Sick of Seattle". The funny thing is Cobain was always getting dissed by folks he supported: he was a big Kiss fan and yet his body was still warm when Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons were ripping him in the press. Ugh.

I think you are taking the song too seriously. This song sounds to me more like a sarcastic rip on some of the downer- angst type lyrics of some "grunge" music. I would bet that in reality the guys in the Smithereens probably liked a lot of the music from that area, especially since a lot of it was similar to their own

Kurt Cobain loved The Smithereens and got them press when their career was in the dumps and no one would touch them with a 10-foot pole. This was Pat DiNizio's response. What hair were you tired of growing, you bald ingrate?

This number is a Rocker!! Love to have this blasting in my car and cruising the 30 plus miles on Hwy 14 @ 80mph into the NW end of Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley. I have 4 or 5 of their Lps on my pod. I've had the pleasure to enjoy these guys live twice in the past 25 years. Once with the Original line up and about 4 years ago with the new bassist. They still put on an awesome show!! Long live The Smithereens!! The Blues Before and After is another one of my favorites.
