By far one of my favourite Singers Unlimited Masterpieces !... After recording the "A Cappella I" came the Hybrid LP Half A Cappella-Half with Instruments "Four Of Us"...in this LP Gene Puerling arranged some of His most beautiful arrangements, along with the present one there was "Where Is Love" "Snowfall" (A Christmas tune in a non Christmas Album) and "Jennifer's Rabbit" a great and seldom seen solo by the great Bass Len Dresslar... The great Cheryl Bentyne from The Manhattan Transfer graced us with an important quote about TSU and as she points out "The Singers Unlimited are the benchmark for all of us" us being all of the Vocal Groups to date, never more so than in this gorgeous arrangement of the classic Van Heusen/Burke standard... For me it's the sweetness of the performance, always in a sad and silky mood, top notch reharmonization by genius Gene Puerling and the goosebumps you get when super Bass Len Dresslar hits those very low notes throughout the arrangement, particularly the two final chords (Dmaj13-Dbmaj13) that I just can't seem to have enough hearing !
Special thanks to Peter Shelton for the amazing pictures !
