Filmed on 'Puffing Billy' near Melbourne with the kids from a local Children's Home.

I recently had an email from one of them, now in his 50s, after he recognised himself on the video!

The audio is from the second (single) version of the song by the group, which was a #2 UK hit at Christmas 1966. The Seekers are touring the UK in April-June 2014 to celebrate their 50th Anniversary as a group.Visit http://www.theseekers50th.com/ for more info.

Love this song. So heart-warming and touching. Judith is so beautiful and The Seekers are without a doubt one of the very best. God bless them all

Reminds Me Of Children Ages 2 to 5 used To Sing "Morningtown Ride" When The Ladies and Nursery Nurses were singing "Morningtown Ride" For Children Ages 2 to 5 with The Song At The Old Torry Nursery In Torry In Aberdeen In Scotland In 1977.

Childhood memories of singing along to this at same age as the children in the video ...a gem of a song and Australian icons

This remake version from 66 never grabbed me as the W&G version from Hide & Seekers in 64. There is a haunting quality to the 64 version and this version has a melodic flatness to it. The W&G version utilizes a bit more reverb also. I just never cared for this version. Also, this version was dubbed over this video. This video (made in 66) of Puffing Billy was used in 'The Seekers Down Under' and the version used was the W&G version from 64.

I had this version bookmarked for a long time, then it was removed. Glad it got up loaded here. This is real music.

I don't have many memories of my mum as I was only 3 years old when she died. But the one thing I do know is she used to sing this song to me as she was putting me into bed at night. 46 years later I still love this song and everytime I hear it it still reminds me of my mum singing along to the Seekers.

She had such affinity with the children on board. Shame that she was unable to have any of her own.
