I really hope The Searchers aren't doing a petulant Eagles thing, taking down their concert footage, I guess so it can be sold rather than just seen and listened to here.  I think, guys, it is counter-productive.I saw them at the weekend and they are still amazingly good.  As my brother said, "they sound like they should sound."  OK they say more or less the same things to all the audiences but they are good value:  clean-cut, funny, energetic and sounding just as good as they once did.  Clever mixing is needed here, of course, and playing to the different strengths in the current band's voices and they do.Long may they continue.

Yes, Frank is still a hottie!!! I was CRAY-ZEEEE about him when I was 13-14!! I remember my dad decided to start a family project f scraping off old wallpaper in the living room when I was 13. The wallpaper had to be well-moistened, & I would carve Frank Allen's name in the old wet wallpaper....oh well, I WAS only 13...

On this day in 1964 {Feb. 8th} Jackie DeShannon performed "When You Walk In The Room" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand' One month earlier on Jan. 25th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart for a one week stay at position #99 Also in 1964 the Searchers covered it; their version reached #5 in U.K. and #35 in the U.S.A. And thirty years later in 1994 Pam Tillis took it to #2 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart RIP Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012} & Ms. DeShannon turns 69 on August 21st

Okay... Listen, I am 31 years old & have listened to this music all of my life from when I can remember. I could not give a monkeys what key it is played in etc, I enjoy their music for what it is, simple quality entertainment. I have an opinion on both acts as I have seen them both, in fact, I have seen The Searchers 27 times & MPS 3 times. Music is meant to make you feel good & I tell you mate, when you go to a Searchers gig & come away - it is euphoria. End of...

This video really does not do justice to a live performance. You gotta go see them. If I could see very performance I would go.

Did they influence Harrison to sound like this, or was it vice versa?

@dbailey62 Jackie DeShannon wrote and had a hit a long time ago. Search the live version of her singing it. The black and white vid is lip synched.

Frank and John are holding up very well. I've not heard of any health issues so keep your fingers crossed. I recently saw a Dave Edmunds clip as he sang Girl's Talk. I was a bit shocked by his appearance. Apparantly he's had some heart issues and surgery. It shows I'm afraid. Stay well Dave!

I've just come back from seeing them perform in Newport. I was amazed how good they were, great harmonies and the two original members look fabulous for their ages. Wasn't around the first time but I am definately a fan after tonight! This was my fav. song they performed.
