The Searchers released their version before the Rolling Stones as a single A-side in 1966, April 8. It reached no. 31 in the U.K. and stayed in the charts for six weeks. In Sweden no. 4 - 5 weeks. In The Netherlands no. 5 - 15 weeks.

"Take It or Leave It" is a song written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, who recorded it from December 3--6, 1965 at RCA Studios in Los Angeles. It was released on the album "Aftermath" on April 15, 1966 in the U.K., July 2, 1966 in the U.S.A.

On a Far East Tour The Rolling Stones had offered The Searchers this track from their "Aftermath" lp.

"We had decided to carry on with the plans to record "Take It Or Leave It", the Jagger/Richards composition we had heard in Australia. The haunting quality of the song and the connection with two of the most hip people in rock'n roll might be enough to grab some attention and airplay, we figured."

Take It Or Leave It turned out to be the Searchers' biggest success in the Netherlands.
