About the third album side, we can blame Monty Python for that being cancelled. The Residents though they had an original idea but then MP had already done the double groove thing the year before, so BF came out as a mini vinyl, which I still have:)

Too bad they didn't make "fingerprince" a three sided album- it would've been awesome if it had this, "death in Barstow", and "melon collie lassie" included o3o.

Fingerprince was originally going to have three sides - accounts vary as to whether as an three-sided double album, or a single album with one side cut as a double groove (meaning that which side you heard would depend on where the needle came down on the run-in). Anyway, it didn't happen and the tracks intended for the third side became Babyfingers, and have since appeared on some CD versions of Fingerprince.

This is only the second Residents song I've heard. And I questioned why I'm still listening about 6 minutes in. Then I realized, because it's awesome.

This was originally released on a 7" called Babyfingers. And then again later, as you said, on Residue. However, they collected the contents of the 7" onto the CD reissue of Fingerprince and left it off of future releases of Residue.

me too! on residue which is a GREAT album with songs like boy in love, a great version of ups and downs, whoopy snorp and the like. oh, anvil forest is great. i spent a bunch of my teen years doing lots of acid and listening to res albums the way they should be...on vinyl.

I have the album Fingerprince(tan cover) and this song is not on it. I looked this song up because it used to be on my friends album Residue. Residue has been released in a new cd form and this song appears to be missing. One of my favorites too.

I found this on the Residue album, which was in 1983 or so. It's like a symphony.

I actually got this on the Recommended Records sampler in the early 80's Loved it ever since and rediscovered it the other day after going to see Fred Frith and Chris Cutler et al. I didn't know which album it was from though. Thanks.
