The baby became a king, and for one bright shining moment, he was really happy, cuz kings are good, and kings are strong, and he was a king. But then the stranger's path got darker and darker, and the baby lost his way. And the baby got old, and the baby got fat, and the baby didn't like himself too much anymore, and he died. But we have to never forget: that he was a baby. And babies are good, and babies are strong, and babies are the best of everything.

This was the first Residents video I ever saw. I came across it totally by accident. That was such a magical moment....

If you want these guys at your wedding, get on that asap. They're book solid.

The bummer about the Residents is that they only creep you out the first few times you see and hear their stuff. After that, you're used to their aesthetic, their sound, style, and what they're all about. The surprise is gone, but you have forty-something years worth of material still left to go through.

these guys MUST'VE influenced The KNife (euro band, not the genesis song). I remember seeing this in the 90s or 80s.....thank god you posted it. Thought it was on SNL though....but yeah....the residents were too cool for SNL.

Laughing and creeped out at the same time. He reminds me of Beetlejuice.

The growl does come across as limitation...the choice of it may be the same as only being able to look in a keyhole at a star...but it does eliminate a large slice of humanity at the same time...then again, it might have to do with the singers limits. Otherwise....miss you guys.

Its amazing that this was allowed to be presented on mainstream television. Same with that show nightflight. Occasional instances of seriously cutting edge stuff on comercial tv.
