One theory (keeping in mind that theories are like ***holes - everybody has one), is that at the start of the song the person is on the phone with somebody in a hijacked plane (remember DDA came out just after 9/11). The last part of the song, of course, is the person's life afterwards. I think both theories may be true at the same time. Then again, everybody has one. lol

It is amazing how this song is able to summarize the fall of a once great idol, everything failed and now he only wants to be loved by one person (even if he might have wanted more than that before), who is apparently dead. Great song.
