Dr. Martens commissioned The Raveonettes to cover The Stone Roses' I Wanna Be Adored as part of a project celebrating their 50th anniversary.

Co-directed by photographers Cass Bird and Molly Schiot, the music video is their modern interpretation of the 1971 cult classic, Harold and Maude. The video follows the adventures of reinvented Harriet and Maude, played by Barbara Singer and Alexa Rosenberg.

I don't understand how anybody is saying that this sounds exactly the same as the original. It has fuzzy distortion on the guitar work, and the Raveonettes obviously have a female singer. It shares the ominous mood of the original, but it's different. I love the cover and the video. Great work!

What 1971 cult classic? Wasn't the song by the Stone Roses in, like, '89? The video clips don't ring any bells on what this movie is (and I was around back then and into Psychotronic flicks so....anyone? anyone? Bueller?).

I think the elderly lady is a semi-retired porn director. I have seen her some other places beside this video. I do not recall exactly where or when. I am not passing judgement on her or that she is in the video. I think she plays the role pretty good. I will say that I do not get the Harold and Maude connection! Only on a most superficial level, maybe. Like an old and young people as co stars but that is it. Still fun to watch and a very awesome song! Yes, I know it is a cover.

This version creates a completely different feel for the song. The original has a feel of expecting and demanding adoration, while this feels like a need for adoration. Both are good, though the original breakdown solo is better than this, I actually the mood of this cover better.

this is wank. i enjoy covers by lesser artists, they're often better than the originals, and i will give this band a look (purely on the basis that they covered this song), but this is not good.

I could not disagree more. The harmonies are better, the mood is different.
