Jesse James we understand

Has killed many a man

He robbed the Union trains

He stole from the rich

and gave to the poor

He'd a hand and a heart

and a brain

Now Jesse had a wife

Lived a lady all her life

And children they were brave

But history does record

That Bob and Charlie Ford

Have laid poor Jesse in his grave

Well it was on Saturday night

The stars were shining bright

They robbed the Glendale train

And the people they did say

for many miles away

It was those outlays

Frank and Jesse James

Now Jesse had a wife

Lived a lady all her life

And children they were brave

But history does record

That Bob and Charlie Ford

Have laid poor Jesse in his grave

Well it was Bob and Charlie Ford

Those dirty little cowards

I wonder how they feel

For they ate of Jesse's bread

and they slept in Jesse's bed

And they laid poor Jesse in his grave

Now Jesse had a wife

Lived a lady all her life

And children they were brave

But history does record

That Bob and Charlie Ford

Have laid poor Jesse in his grave

Well the people held their breath

When they heard of Jesse's death

They wondered how he came to fall

Well it was Robert Ford in fact

who shot him in the back

While he hung a picture on the wall

*Jesse James*We are nearing the anniversary of the killing of Jesse James who was shot by Robert Ford on April 3rd, 1882. James's life has inspired a number of songs, films, books, and entire festivals - more than any other outlaw I can think of. Tune in to the radio show this week as I mix in plenty of Jesse James music.I am always intrigued to find so many Americans who first heard the famous folk song "Jesse James" from an Irish rock band.

It doesn't matter what Jesse James was truly like - we will never know. But the power of his myth makes him a legend in the true sense of the word - which is why Woodie Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bruce Springstein, Bob Dylan and many others including the Pogues sing of him. We create myths because we need them to inspire and energise us in our mundane daily lives. When we live in a rational society where we as social individuals are in control of our lives instead of cowering before impersonal and mysterious economic and political forces we don't understand, that is when we will also be able to live sane lives without mythically projecting parts of our own selves and environment.

No Jesse was a great man a genius and a hero to many. You Yankees just hate him cuz he fucked the union in the ass and faked his death with help from the governor of Missouri

It don't matter who won. All that matters is that we remember, honor and respect. Go celtic-americans ( that's 1/3 of ya'll)
