What a great RNR band. I'll take The Pirates over The Rolling Stones as the best rock 'n' roll band of the 1970s, thank you.

The Pirates is the band from London who influenced Lemmy long before he was even with Hawkwind. This was the time when Sid Vicious came to him and said " Hey Lemmy can you teach me how to play Bass, he agread but after few days Lemmy said to him : Man you cant play bass I am sorry. Few month later Sid runs in to Lemmy and tells him that he made it to play with Pistols. This is from Lemmy's biography book " White line fever"

I was probably at this gig. I saw the Pirates at The Nashville a pub in London at least 10 times. The lights would go down, there would be tapes of thunder and god knows what then this !

There's a great compilation double cd set called "Shakin' with the Devil the best of The Pirates" which seems to contain most of their '70s output....well recommended
