Motors - Airport 1978

So many destination faces going to so many places

Where the weather is much better

And the food is so much cheaper.

Well I help her with her baggage

for her baggage is so heavy

I hear the plane is ready

by the gateway to take my love away.

And I can't believe

that she really wants to leave me

and it's getting me so,

It's getting me so.

Airport - Airport,

you've got a smiling face,

you took the one I love so far away

Fly her away - fly her away - airport.

Airport - Airport,

you've got a smiling face

You took my lady to another place

Fly her away - fly her away.

The plane is on the move,

And the traces of the love we had in places

Are turning in my mind -

how I wish I'd been much stronger

For the wheels are turning faster

as I hear the winds are blowing

and I know that she is leaving

On the jet plane way down the runaway.

And I can't believe

that she really wants to leave me -

and it's getting me so,

It's getting me so.

Airport - Airport,

you've got a smiling face,

you took the one I love so far away

Fly her away - fly her away - airport.

Airport - Airport,

you've got a smiling face

You took my lady to another place

Fly her away - fly her away.

(Instrumental)

And I can't believe

that she really wants to leave me -

and it's getting me so,

It's getting me so.

Airport - Airport,

you've got a smiling face,

you took the one I love so far away

Fly her away - fly her away - airport.

Airport - Airport,

you've got a smiling face

You took my lady to another place

Fly her away - fly her away.

Airport - Airport,

you've got a smiling face,

you took the one I love so far away

Fly her away - fly her away - airport.

Airport - Airport,

you've got a smiling face

i remember when this song hit the uk charts, i was 18, girl friends were disposable, until i met my match when i was 25 and got married, between time i always played this vinyl usually at a time when an engagement had broken, she's gone flying away, today i still play it occasionally, it reminds me of especially 3 girls that got away, and i wonder what life would have been like if i had hitched with them instead, airport - if i could travel to 3 parallel universes, i would probably find out, but its not possible so i just keep on thinking, my wife has enquired "why do you often play this song, and what are you thinking?" i haven't told her the truth, what do you think - should I?

Music really doesn't get much better than this.Absolutely sublime song from the 70's. Nearly 40 years old and still sounds as fresh as the day it was released. But then, true quality is timeless.

Robert Pattinson on drums. Great song. Ah the days of music when you could get in the charts just by making good music. Didn't matter what you looked like as long as you could play your instruments, sing and write songs. They had heart and soul and feeling in music in those days. Doubt they will ever come again. Jesus I hate The X Factor. Still, there is always You Tube.

I just couldn't take my eyes off that brown keyboard balanced precariously on top of that synth which was on the verge of falling off towards the end.

This sad song always made me think about airports in East Germany or Poland or somewhere else behind the so-called Iron Curtain of that time...
