For those who enjoyed the entire LP of the classic "Every Good Boy Deserves the Favor" (EGBDF to help recollect chords in music) should listen to the album "Grave New World" by Strawbs. Particularly the opening track "Benedictus." When this came out in the 70's -- I thought it was a new track from the Moody Blues it was that intense & beautiful. So good, that New York's legendary WNEW-FM played the entire LP uninterrupted. Something usually reserved only for the privileged artists & that year Strawbs was added. Their history? Sandy Denny was a full time member prior to Fairport, Rick Wakeman went on to Yes & John Hawken -- the original Renaissance keyboardist. The LP has short acoustic interludes but at times they really let loose with incredible folk-progressive rock. Drummer Richard Hudson sounds like he's from the Procol Harum-B.J.Wilson school of drums. Strawbs is known for their Union anthem single "Part of the Union." They should have toured with the Moody Blues.

It seems that their older music was likened to a ships anchor, plunging deeper and deeper into the meaning of life. Now, it appears that the anchor that made them great has become buoyant. I should think that they should be plunging deeper with their creative genius seeking truth … whatever that may be. The Moody Blues has always stimulated my imagination in the past.
