I remember this song from the summer of 1969. I guess with all the music competition that existed way back then in the late 1960's, "Someday Man" didn't even make the Top 50 on the music charts.. However, anyone with a professional music ear who listens to this song today will quickly realize that "Someday Man" is right up there on the same level as the greatest hits that the Monkees ever recorded.

I heard this on the November 22, 2014 "Sounds of the Sixties" on BBC Radio 2. It's the first time I heard it in decades.

The Monkees version of "Someday Man" first appeared as the B-side to the "Listen to the Band" single, issued in the summer of 1969. It reached #81 on Billboard ("LTTB" itself peaked at #63). A severely underrated song in the Monkees canon, I always loved the easygoing charm and beguiling melody of Paul's best songs, and Davy handles this just perfectly! The Carpenters and Three Dog Night would have big hits with Paul Williams/Roger Nichols songs shortly afterwards.

Well...StanBennet...you have EXCELLENT taste!!!!!This song, Someday Man, was written by Paul Williams and Roger Nichols. Paul released his version on his, I believe, third album - released in 1970. The album itself is titled Someday Man and has many excellent (hello Keanu Reeves) songs.Search YouTube for both Paul Williams version and Roger Nichols group A Small Circle of Friends for their version as well.stardaddyo9 got it right with the first posting 9 months ago.The Monkees did a fine job but...Paul Williams version is MUCH better.Shalom.
