As the new kid during sophomore year,I had a massive high school crush back in the 80's to a cheerleader. I would write secret admirer notes during my lunch periods and dropping inside her locker. Yet, the only problem was that I was quite shy and new in school that I was petrified of rejection. That cheerleader befriended me later on without knowing that I was her secret admirer. As she became more comfortable as her friend, she would be actually flaunt my poems to me and said it was so romantic yet, she was frustrated and tired of the hiding. Afterwards, I'd stopped writing the poems which got her depressed for a bit. Yet, ever the Lois Lane, she nonchalantly asked me to write my favorite lyrics for her to cheer her up. I'd wrote "Secret Heart" by memory and she confirmed her suspicions. My handwriting matched the poems. The reason why they call it "A Crush" is the feeling of devastation when ones love doesn't reciprocate the love back. Yet, the lady provided me a quiet comfort to just be friends and we did.
