1966, Filming began on The Monkees first TV series. The Monkees’ first single, ‘Last Train to Clarksville’ was released in August 1966, just weeks prior to the TV broadcast debut. In conjunction with the first broadcast of the television show on September 12, 1966 on the NBC television network, NBC and Columbia had a major hit on their hands.

Mike was my favorite (Love that Texas drawl) but Peter is close second. I loved all of them though. Micky is an amazing singer while Davy is just adorable. Rest in peace, Davy. Read somewhere Micky did not want to play drums but was made to for the show, however all four did play adequately on tour. They actually all could play instruments and wanted to, especially Mike n Peter, but the powers that be would not let them. They finally won the right to but never really earned respect.
