We'll I'm not sure if this is a Monkees song or something Davy did later on. I'm sure this can song can be heard elsewhere on Youtube, but this version seems to be the cleanest i've found. Here it is, a rare version of "If I Ever Get To Saginaw Again." I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS RECORDING!!! enjoy

Yee-haw! Davy Jones, the Manchester cowboy! (Wonder if that makes Mike Nesmith the Texan soft shoe-shuffler?) ;D

No offense to Davy but I think this song was better Mike's voice.

With no offense to Davy, Mike’s version features a much different and better reading of the lyrics. Secondarily, Mike is the natural pick for a country song. Also, this arrangement echoes “The Weight” by The Band.

"If I Ever Get To Saginaw Again" was written by the late great Jack Keller and Bob Russell. Mike's version was produced in 1969 by Jack Keller and Lester Sill. This version by Davy was recorded in the early 1970's. By the way, Jack Keller co-wrote with Diane Hilderbrand "Your Auntie Grizelda" and he also penned "Hold On Girl" which appeared on "More Of The Monkees".

Mike does a fab version of this on Missing Links, vol. 2 I think. Sounds like a Nesmith tune but I don't think he actually wrote it. Probably could have though given his, eh hem, tryst. This is a radical version though. Love it. Davy singing gives it a whole different perspective.
