This one by "The Marvelettes" was never released on single at the time, (Gladys Horton and Wanda Rogers were the lead singers), but I know it became popular with the "Northern Soul" fans, let me know if you like it? Thanks John

Hi John G Byrne. Was just browsing and saw this recording. According to my Marvelettes archives, this recording was recorded in the "snakepit" at hitsville on Grand on July 30, 1964 and yes that is Wanda on lead. There was an acetate record produced and sent to local DJs around Detroit but got very little interest from radio listeners. It sat in "The Can" for 36 years. It was released on two Motown products - "The Essential Collection" CD [United Kingdom] (Feb. 28, 2000) and "Forever: The Complete Motown Albums Volume 1" CD [U.S.] (May 8, 2009).

@doedoe49 "Playboy" is by the Marvelettes. Martin Scorsese used it in "Goodfellas" in the scene where they torch the nightclub. The song is on YouTube.

Motown's really brilliant producers and writers too! I was sorry to hear today Friday January 9th that Norman Whitfield died, another great producer at Motown. JOHN

That's how alot of people get mixed up, they think that some songs were recorded earlier because they sound un sophisticated. That s not always the case

This is one I can't answer MotownMaster. I checked Motown's records lists and it says it was recorded in 1966, although I suspect you may well be right as a lot of tracks were recorded in the "Pits" at Hitsville and shelved for a few years, as you'll know! John
