got to see the Lurkers in York later in 1978.. a bit of trouble at the start of the gig, glasses being thrown, but Esso got up and told the crowd that there were a lot of kids at the gig and if anyone wanted to cause trouble then they should come up and have a row with him there and then. After that the show went on pretty peacefully, and their rendition of "Shadow" must have gone on for 15 minutes cos Howard let everyone up front have a go at singing the song. Pete Stride was so fucking cool.

For me this was the perfect combination , especially with howard wall on vocals , whatever happened to him , miss this great sound of early lurkers..great to have these videos to reflect on

Thanks for posting!I was 17 when I saw them in a pub in my local town in Gloucestershire just as punk was kicking off!Had the time of my life.....still carry that feeling in in my heart to this day!It was an amazing time to be a young kid!My daughter is so envious that I saw all the great bands;Ramones,Clash etc on a weekly basis....but that's how it was then....Take care xx
