Capitol Records started the first high school concerts with the KNACK playing "award assemblies" at schools all over SoCal. We did play the Valley Music Theater so we probably did one of the Diamond gigs as well as Melodyland and the Carousel and several Kasey Casem shows. You can see some of the pics on my website (michaelchain) and facebook (Michael Chain Band) Chain

There's an aircheck of Roger Christian's last show on KBLA from the morning of June 17, 1967. It was the first day of the Monterey Pop Festival but the last day of the rock format at that little Burbank station. Roger spun this record. Another KBLA jock, Dave Diamond, produced concerts with the Doors, Love, Seeds and other L.A. bands at the Valley Music Theatre, and at high schools during lunchtime. Did The Knack play any of those shows for Dave, Michael?

Barbara and I went our separate ways decades ago. Never a loser, Barbara became a movie star and I moved from music into writing television. Now I'm back in music with the Michael Chain Band.

The producer on this song was actually Lex DeAzavedo. Nick Venet produced "I'm Aware" and "Time Waits Foe No One."

Actually you have the producer wrong. The man at the mixing board was Lex De Azavedo. Nick Venet was my producer on "I'm Aware" and "Time Waits For No One." Chain

The Knack recorded this song, along with "Banana Man", in Los Angeles on May 22, 1967 with producer Nik Venet and engineer John Krauss. Capitol released the two tracks together as a single (Capitol 5940). If anyone knows where in L.A. this was recorded, I'd really appreciate knowing.

Never knew there was another band called The Knack. Cool. This song sounds like a cross between Chicago, The Turtles and maybe Hermans Hermits.

@jrwall100 The number one refers to being alone. And the lyric is "one is a lonely number waiting for two". Chain Michael Chain Band

Barbara and I were high school sweethearts. She was a great gal then and she still is today. Lucky is the man with Barbara in his life. Michael Chain

Pug is a great drummer. Jazz magazine DOWNBEAT once called him "the new Gene Krupa". He's also a great guy. Say hi to him for me. Michael Chain
