"The Thrill Of It All" was one of Doris Day's brightest - and most intelligent comedies, with much of the credit - in this instance - going to the ultra talented screenwriter Carl Reiner ("The Dick Van Dyke Show"). Doris' co star was the great actor (and suave comic) James Garner. James played obstetrician Dr. Gerald Boyer and Doris, his wife Beverly.

The fun begins when one of Dr. Boyer's patients Mrs. Gardner Frawley (Arlene Francis) becomes a late-in-life expectant mother, which thoroughly delights her and her husband (Edward Andrews). Mrs. Frawley's father (Reginald Owen) sells "Happy Soap" and via a dinner party visit - whereupon Beverly extolls the virtues of "Happy Soap" (her kids seem to love it) - Beverly is invited to become the new commercial spokesperson for "Happy Soap". This causes a series of comic complications for Beverly and her husband - on the domestic front, and in their romantic life as well.

This film was one of the few times that Doris Day herself did not sing a title song over the credits - but here, it is sung by The Johnny Mann Singers (who recorded for Liberty Records). I could never find a commercial recording by them of this title song, so I have taken it directly from the soundtrack. A musical souvenir of a great Doris Day comedy!
