This song is lovely and it needn't mean religion to anyone. You guys overthink and argue the inarguable. Just shut up and enjoy its beauty.

I love all their songs! Got to see them once in a very small venue years ago. It was spectacular! This has to be what angels sound like...

"But gentle Jesus, aren't You always, aren't You every hour here?" "Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20) The IM songs... deeply rooted in Scriptures.

It was an odd bit of synchronicity, but this song led to a permanent connection with this band.

oh right it's another fantastic song by The Innocence Mission. Why am I even surprised anymore? Are they from a genetically advanced race of super-beings?

I don't see anything religious about their music, even if they are themselves. It is uplifting and melancholy in a positive way. Karen's voice is unique and impeccable. Very inspiring in a non-religious way to me. She just makes it seem so effortless.

@christianman73, I don't agree with your generalization. But, I do agree that the Catholic church has a rich and glorious tradition in the arts -- which at one point was envied by all of civilization.

it's not alone a question of belief, or a question of spirituality, it's only in the words and in the tunes brought by this brilliant band...

This song is so beautiful and poignant. The lyrics are pure poetry. To my mind, Catholics usually seem to make the best "Christian-informed" art. I'm not sure why, but songs by evangelical Protestants often just can't compare. Anyway, this CD is one of my all-time favorites, second only to "Glow" (in my opinion) in the IM pantheon. I wish that someone would reissue it! Oh well, I just ordered it used and am awaiting musical ecstasy! :-)
