I actually love Judy Collins's version "First Boy I Loved" so much more. Compared to it, this sounds like a demo, shallow and unfelt.

*First Girl I Loved*--*The Incredible String Band*From the wonderful, trippy and mercurial album "The 5000 Spirits, or The Layers of the Onion" comes a simple, achingly beautiful song of memory, loss and longing. Robin Williamson's lyrics, voice and guitar meld with Danny Thompson's bowed and plucked double-bass to create a dreamlike atmosphere of sad, wistful nostalgia. It astounds me that Williamson wasn't yet 20 years old when he wrote this as the emotions it evokes are suggestive of a look back over a much longer life and time. Absolutely lovely.+Emma Selle

Have you heard the version from The Chelsea Sessions? I think it's even better, if that were possible. Beautiful...A
