Before Rammstein and Static-X ever achieved mainstream success in the United States, The Hunger made a living by combining heavy metal riffs with club dance beats. Their first major label release, Devil Thumbs a Ride, has a signature sound several years ahead of its time. Although more metal than dance, the album has elements of both genres that create intriguing blends of electronic and human influences. Building around the album's first single, "Vanishing Cream," Devil Thumbs a Ride is capable of pounding its way into your head, but you will also catch yourself tapping your feet to its catchy synthesized beats. While the Hunger may not be the founders of the dance metal movement, they certainly tried their hands at it well before the genre became popular. And they did a pretty good job of it, too. From beginning to end, Devil Thumbs a Ride is a solid collection of consistently good hard rock songs with just a hint of electronica to sweeten the pot. ~ David Reamer, All Music Guide

Got this CD when I was in 8th grade just because of this tune. Back when WAAF in Boston played good music...

I remember hearing this song a long time ago like 12 years ago. When it kind of reminded me of songs like fear factory and pitch shifter. It had a mixture of new wave and alternative rock , but whatever. I think this song rocks.

They got lost in the shuffle it seemed, I think a lot of people when they heard this weren't sure what was going on. The mid to late 90's was a strange time for music and clearly these guys were ahead of the curve but didn't catch the mainstream's ears.

this weekend they'll be playing in beaumont, tx. thomas, the lead singer, is friends with a popular photographer in the area, and asked him to orchestrate a fashion show to walk between bands. a few close friends collaborated the idea, and we decided we'll dress as "fetishes". i'll be electrical tape;D
