Got to love the symbolisms in this song. My favorites are the red cloaked figures (his conscience chanting the phrase My Fault in Latin) and the fire wrapping around him foreshadowing his fate.

Ever since I first saw this movie it has always been one of my favorite disney movies and this song is my favorite song from disney. For one i can't believe they put a song like this in a children's movie and got away with it XD but really what makes this song so damn good is the fact that Frollo is such an amazing villian. His views are so warped due to his extreme religious believes and his character really feels human, not so much forced like a villian doing bad things cause its bad. I think one the reasons I love Frollo so much is the fact is that he is a man of the church, he is devoted to god and I love to see his fear of God, his fear becoming sinful, even though he's already done so much to do bad. He is just so complex and I could go on forever on how much I love this guy! This movie definitely deserves more attention because easily one of the best movies disney has done.

i remember watching this a few years back when i was like 6-7, i found this song REAAAALLLY scary. but one strange thing my sister said to me (who was older) was that when you grow up and happen to cross paths with this song again, you'll be even more freaked out, now i know what she means O_O

I haven't seen this movie since I was a tiny kid, nor have I yet read the novel, but dang, this scene and the whole concept of a lascivious and evil religious man reminds me of the titular character of Matthew Lewis's *The Monk* (which I suppose makes sense, since both Lewis and Hugo were writing Gothic horror). That book was written and published at the end of the eighteenth century and contained rather explicit (for the time) scenes of rape, incest, torture, and murder. It was quite scandalous, as can be imagined, but since Hugo's book came after and seems at least a little tamer, I have to wonder what public outcry was like. n_n;
