Just to clear things up - this is a Nik Venet production: Brian had nothing to do with it. He was on tour at the time.

This and the other Honey's song is the best song from the early 60's period...the production is beyond and the backing instrumentals are among the best...merry merry!

"Carnage"? Funny auto-correct flub: her name is actually Carnie.

Good ear! Probably IS the Wrecking Crew: in fact, The Honeys are Marilyn Rovell, Diane Rovell, and a friend whose name I forget. If you don't know, Marilyn was Brian Wilson's wife at the time. Brian produced some records with them, including this one, as his answer to such Spector girl groups as the Ronettes. So yeah, you're hearing this just right.

They sound an awful lot like The Wrecking Crew, the studio musicians Phil Spector used to create the "wall of sound". Brian Wilson used them for many of the Beach Boys recordings.

I was just thinking how much the middle eight chords and tempo reflected the mid eight of "Little deuce coupe". Nice song.

One of the Honeys, Marilyn Rovell, married Brian Wilson in 1964. They produced more than music. They are the parents of Wendy and Carnage Wilson of Wilson-Phillips.

Supposedly Japan? "Pray for Surf" was doomed in the Bible Belt for its title.
