My third graders at Holy Ghost Catholic School, Albuquerque NM, sang this for the Christmas program in 1993. As we left the performance area, Father Joe, who was about my age, leaned over and told me "This is my very favorite song."Did anyone else notice the error in the lyrics when Clarke sings the bridge?

I have always loved this song and love it more as I get older. When I was young, it meant my brother in the sense of the whole of humanity. Crikey, I was an idealistic girl. I did think like that and did all sorts of voluntary work. Now I am mostly concerned with my actual, real brother. He is the only one of my relatives, mostly dead, apart from my husband and son, I care about.I guess we should look after one another but I live next door to a graveyard and coke cans, chip wrappers (plus the chips), Big Mac Boxes, beer cans etc get strewn on the graves and in the hedges. It is hard to find a fountain of love for your fellow men/women when, frankly, they behave like a-----. I will stick with my actual brother.

I was 10 years old and in 5th grade when this song hit the airwaves. I loved it then. I love it now. It's what Jesus told us long ago...Love God...Love others!
