I normally like their versions well enough, but this is definitely not one of them. As many have already said, it's far too "jolly."

Pales in comparison to the Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem's version. The first part and the next to last part are close to the way it should sound given the lyrics. The middle section and the speeded up ending sounds like a wedding jig.

This is the exact same cadence and melody as 'The Orange and the Green' This is not how this song is meant to sound...

We Irish tend to celebrate life through music and drink. Even though its about losing to the English. We will sing from our hearts and damn the rest of the world and what it thinks. Thats why we have wakes when one dies. Carry on boys.

God bless the Irish! They stood up and we should take their example!

As to my opinion for all of this...good song or not, tis better to die for a noble cause than to suffer under a tyrants' boot-heel, or worse, to not have the courage to take a side...

Far too fast and "jolly". This is a song of rebellion not a wedding dance.

Well they fought for poor old Ireland, and full bitter was their fate,Oh what glorious pride and sorrow, fills the name of ninety-eight!Yet, thank God, e'en still are beating hearts in manhood burning noon,Who would follow in their footsteps, at the risin' of the moonAt the rising of the moon, At the rising of the moonWho would follow in their footsteps, at the risin' of the moon.

I am not a werewolf. Don't worry. I'm just interested in Irish musical culture. I just like to jig and bite and grow fur.
