This along with Whiter Shade of Pale which also came out in '67 were definitive moments of my last year at college in Durham. Two classics which will never be forgotten.

WHQoaww! So nice to hear this one om YT. This is a good example of a winner in the 60s - while this song would be too complicated to match the requirements of modern times' hit lists, that is, today a hit must be a copy of at least ten other hits and totally imbecille, if the record company will spend money on it.

I was 15. One of my adolescent memories. Still years ahead of its time. 47 years ago. Frightening.

Featured Song:The Herd - From The Underworld.Released in 1967 on Fontana RecordsLyrics below:Out of the land of shadows and darknesswe were returning towards the morning lightAlmost in reach of places I knewescaping the ghosts of yesterdayYou were behind me following closely"Don't turn around" I heard you whisper in my ear"If you should turn now, all that you wonwill vanish just like a passing dream."Just on the very verge of the morning, daylight was dawning, freedom was but a step awayNow with the deep dark river behind us,what could go wrong if I stayed strong in mindWhat was the sudden lapse into madness, what was the urge that turned my head around to look at you? What was the stubborn willto destroy the love and the joy I nearly held?Three times a thunder roared in my earsIn all of my years I'll see that lost look in your eyes.As with a sigh like smoke in the windyou slipped from my grasp into the waiting shadowsso much I longed to say,but my touch found only the empty air and a black nights coldness.Into another world you have passedand never again can I reclaim you#TrippyDaze #SixtiesMusic #peterframpton

Absolutely marvellous!I was 15 when this crashed into the charts in autumn '67. Where on earth have the years gone? I can still remember the great Alan 'Fluff' Freeman giving it one of his peerless introductions, as only he could "...and then pop-pickers there came The Herd..." - followed by the awesome sound of the tolling bell...Totally agree with what captainsoul1953 says below. Nothing like this has been made for years. Spot on!

I totally agree with your music tastes. I'm 100% English Mod. But just one thing, get rid of them lions. They're not English, They're Norman.
