Think of it like real life. First album: the younger age (1-12 year old people), they are making mistakes and exploring lots of things. second album(the teen years): they've learned enough to better put together the sound that they want. Third album (college age): they have lots of fun, and it's very well put together, typically the best. This leads into their career, they've found something that they are good at and just get a job doing that until they retire. Mainstream recognition skips 1-3
