Off their classic 1982 album "Miami"

Come down to the willow garden

with me

come go with me

come go and see

Although I've howled across fields and my eyes

turned grey

are yours still the same?

are you still the same?

Carry Home

I have returned

through so many highways

and so many tears

Your letter never survived the heat of

my hand

my burning hand

my sweating hand

Your love never survived the heat of

my heart

my violent heart

in the dark

Carry Home

I have returned

through so many highways

and so many tears

Carry Home to where I am from

carry to the place that I have come

carry to the dust and flies behind me

carry to the cracks and caves on the face of me

Oh, but I didn't change, I just had to work

Yeah, but I didn't change, I just had to work

and now I'm home, and now I'm home

do you still want me?

Now, that I'm home

Come down to the willow garden with me

come go with me

come go and see

The whole album is just brilliant. Too bad for people who have never heard of the Gun Club. A highly influential 80s band, under-rated too.

comparado con la versión de Lanegan me parece una cacho de mierda pero gracias por el tema!! no tendríamos ese temón sin gun club. Don´t like the original at all but we wouldn´t have Lanegans cover without it..

This album was my theme music in the summer of 1993 at archaeological field school at the confluence of The Ohio and Mississippi rivers. A summer of laying at night on top of ceremonial prehistoric mounds with the peace pipe and wild ass reprobates.Days of excavating and surveying the mile long fields in the bottoms.Ahhha those were golden moments

I'm a huge Lanegan fan, I love his rendition of this song a lot. His cover is darker, I love it. BUT I also like this original, it's completely different, Lanegan turned me onto the Gun Club, it's one of his fave. artists.

I think this song speaks now to the returning Iraq and Afghanistan vets as it did then to the veterans of Vietnam - coming home to a country that's as alienating and cruel as the battlefields they left.

@darragh47 As much as I like Lanegan's version, nothing can beat this.. seriously.. Jeffrey Lee Pierce? unbeatable.

Good, but Mark Lanegan's version is far better

Great song! I knew only the cover by Mark Lanegan, which I honestly like even more, probably due to the fact that it´s more my kind of music. Still great how the song can be interpreted in two such different directions.

This song is a masterpiece. It has a great taste of Blues and Punk Rock.
