Off their classic 1984 album "The Las Vegas Story"

I thought I heard you

in my room last night

lonely lemur calls

in my walls last night,

when I was all alone, in the palm drunken night

when I was all alone, bejeweled in the night

pulsing we are hearts, but bleeding unlike diamonds

tying up ourselves, but bleeding unlike diamonds,

and it's bad,

but, it is Bad America

under the western sky...

I looked up another thousand times

you colored my world violence

you made me warm when you hit me

with a nail in my arm,

I was all alone, I could have die there

I was all alone, and I did not care,

but, for a burning second, of red love in the dark

but, for my burning hands, grasping in the dark

and it's bad,

but, it is Bad America

under the western sky...

And there's girl breath

up and down my spine

but, that was a river ago

I knew you'd come in time,

I was all alone, though it was a sea ago

I was all alone, and where did you go,

and there's vein-like children, on the waterfront

smack-rotting faces, on the waterfront,

and it's bad,

but, it is Bad America

under the western sky...

it is Bad America

well, alright...

I thought this one was a (no, THE) Kid Congo Powers masterpiece?! One hell of a song.

@jdotglenn I think people are strange if they DON'T brush their teeth to this song.

@jonnyboyW20 well there were palm trees in StKilda back then; a bit of a Melbourne Miami. Palm drunken head in hand though.

it seems that Jeffery is playing the lead guitar part on this but perhaps it was Dave Alvin

I feel the need to listen to this song about once a day, at least.. Definitely within my top 3 favorite Jeffrey Lee Pierce songs, if not number 1. He's so brilliant - it's difficult to pick a favorite!!

@maurice2002 O.K. "traverses all genres?""""""""" Cliches are as bad as boxes, but "boxing" things into categories is what humans do!! This was brand new when it came out - when I said "we" called it cow puck, I meant a few of my friends and I - We we 18 fucking years old! Music "like this" and others is not as profound as you want to make it. Sometimes it isjust good music. Americans (and 1 French person) read way to much into talent. Please don't intellectualize this.

pyschobilly/ cow punk??? what the fuck... please don't continue to box music into set genres..... especially music like this that traverses all genre's. It just so safe to 'compartmentalize' music......

@chumbscrubber42 When this band first came out, we called it cow punk - I don't think psychobilly was a term back then, but then again, I am from the country, so this music speaks to me.
