Great unreleased track- very Classics IV. Maybe they shelved it because Bachman left right afterwards.

+ZebMinett13 Yeah same thing with me, I was brought up on Guess Who as my Dad has their Albums on cassette and LP's. Great band!

What a magnificent song! Recently came across this one as well as the entire TWTW lp. This and Silver Bird, and others from the album, rank with the very best from that era. It's unfortunate exposure was lacking when these gems were recorded. These four guys were unmatched in musicianship, vocals, and of course, songwriting. This, sadly, was the end of the original lineup---but what a group it was.

Makes me think of King Crimson's "Book of Saturday".

This particular song from the album (The way they were) Is possibly my favorite guess who song if you have any chance listen to this song off of that album. That version sounds so much better. I would not be surprised if that song would've been at least a top 20 hit. If they needed a filler song I wish they could've put ( Got to find another way) on that album which I think possibly could of been a hit as well. I really wish this album could of been released in 1970.

In my humble opinion, The Guess Who are one of the best rock bands that have ever graced the Earth. I was very fortunate to have been brought up on this band from a young age as my Dad owned all the albums on vinyl, and then later on CD. I'm only 23 years of age, so unfortunately missed this band's heyday by a long shot, but I can totally appreciate what they've contributed towards music, I just love 'em! And this is arguably one of their best songs too!

@gordlightfootfan How about Henley/Frey as the Lennon/McCartney of the US?

@gordlightfootfan Brian Wilson/Mike Love and I guess you could add Tony Asher in their too because Him and Wilson wrote Pet Sounds. Im not a fan of Mike Loves attitude but they wrote great songs.

gordonlightfootfan:Buddy Holly was Lennon and McCartney all wrapped up in one individual. Listen to his songs which came out years before the Beatles existed. His songs were very progressive and nothing like what was being played on the airwaves back then. I'm also a fan of Gordon Lightfoot.

Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings are the Lennon/McCartney of Canada.

For some crazy reason when Buddha put bonus tracks on their Guess Who album releases, they put this song from the last Randy recordings on Share the Land, the first post Randy album. And this track of The Answer is missing some of the guitar parts and vocals that were on the final recording. Listen to the Way They Were album for the complete version of The Answer.

This track wasn't actually part of the albu, but recorded with Bachman just before he left the group.
