For all sources I could find it seems it is the same band (although I can hear so much of the early American death metal sound!) - Encyclopedia Metallum, wikipedia, and a few smaller sites list the line up with the Rutten brothers. If true, then they have changed a lot since this song, but it's all awesome. If you have any contradicting sources let me know, i'd like to know for sure.

I'm sorry to correct you but there is 2 bands named The Gathering. This is the American Death Metal band and the other is one of my favs for sure. I love The Gathering with and without Anneke! If you liked this old band then check out another forgotten band called Tears of Passion. They have an awesome song called Angel (Everyone thinks Type O Negative done the song) but have music similar to this band also.

great song: fucking and dark keyboards. i like anneke very much. mandylion is one of the my favorite albuns. but ALWAYS is a marvelous doom metal album. i've not heard many albuns of doom metal, but i was surprised with my pleasure for ALL songs.
